This course on Quality Improvement for Healthcare Delivery Science aims to provide basic education in quality improvement (QI) to health professionals and trainees to improve competency in the practice of QI and patient safety. The course curriculum consists of four self-directed learning modules focusing on the core concepts, common definitions, tools, and methodology employed in QI.

Approximate Duration: 4 hours

This course will address the following competencies:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of QI Model of Improvement, Aim/Problem statement, Background, SMART goals, Outcome measure
  • Demonstrate ability to use Essential QI planning tools, A3, Key driver diagram, Root cause analysis: Current condition/Process mapping, Fishbone diagram, Pareto chart, 5-whys
  • Demonstrate abilty to use Essential QI data collection tools: Run chart, survey, scatter plots, benchmarking
  • Demonstrate ability to use Designing QI project, creating left and right side of A3
